The Beetle is always gonna be a Baja. Every mod it gets will be in pursuit of that goal. But if I ever decide to build a street car, it will be one of these:

Kinja'd!!!

I soooooo wanna build a big turbo B6 1.8T.

Fuck yeah! The B6 bodystyle looks great dropped and with some nice wheels. Especially with a k04 under the hood.

Also, I’ve diverted all of my Jetta modification funds to building a Stage 3 B5 S4. :P

I will never understand why you want a B5.

Because I’m not right in the head.

A Stage 3 2.7T is a ridiculous car. Just K04s with good plumbing is up over 400hp. A true stage 3 is like 550+. Even my shop owner tapped out at stage 2 to divert his attention to the driveline and suspension.

I want a Murano CrossCabriolet and it would be hard to convince me to buy a B5.

I’d love to get there some day....

But my simplified dream is just to completely rebuild a 2.7t with either Frankenturbo F21s or K04s, new everything, then stick it in a B5 S4 and have fun with it.

Well then you are not right in the head, but another kind of it.

I will fully admit that I am deeply broken and wrong. the B5 is nice if it runs though.

That is true. I could also get one just to look at.

The B6 has all the same mounting points. What about building a 2.7T and sliding it into one of those?

I kinda fell in love with the styling of the B5, I’ve wanted one for years now. But I just haven’t had a chance to get one and have it be practical for me. The B5 S4 has just been one of those cars that I can never get out of my mind, that I’ve wanted all along.

If anything, I’d buy a slightly modified or broken one, get a spare engine, build that engine and pull the old one for parts and whatnot.

I’ve heard of a few people swapping them into the B7, but that’s not my kinda thing :P

My friend has a B5 S4 wagon and it's very quick, especially considering its age.

Oooh, those are also really nice.

I was looking at the PB550 units from Project B5, seemed pretty cheap. But I’d honestly rather go with the F21s and a conservative tune.

Everytime I start day dreaming about wagons I always end up back at the B5. I’ve loved them for the longest time. They have such a timeless, simple, aggressive but at the same time relatively subdued look. Also stage 3 and decently light I love the way they go. Been looking at RS4 widebody conversion B5's lately but in the end I’d stay regular....

However, for the daily-ability, I’ll probably end up with a ‘12 Avant (because 8 speed) or an Allroad. Which both can be made to look awesome and perform decently awesome.

Totally agree. Really timeless design, paired with a massive, friendly aftermarket community is a recipe for cheap, or expensive fun.

I almost ended up with a B8 Allroad, but decided against it because I didn't want a payment.

Ideally with an Allroad, the shitpost I just posted with a pic would be the ideal setup. The downside is BBS Ch-R’s are way too much (even if I could afford them) But RS4 reps look good on them as well. Its amazing how in some color combos they look awful but with some suspension work, wheels, and if necessary body color cladding they look beautiful.

If I had some extra money for a side project car (we’ll see after I graduate next year) I’d have to go classic B5 though.

Ooooooh that’s a nice setup. Somebody who used to life in my neighborhood was running a similar wheel/suspension setup except with a white AR.

I had Rs4 reps on my ‘97 A4 and they were pretty good looking, of course I wouldn’t put them on a more expensive car because they were Chinese made garbage.

The B5 holds a special place in my heart, ever since I sold mine I wanted back in. And the B5 S4 is how I want to get back in. Always loved those things.

Do you live in the Pacific NW by any chance? I remember seeing a white AR with BBS floating around the PNW around the forums.

I agree, B5S or bust. I can’t get over how much I love them, I wonder if I’ll hve to own one to get it out of my system!

I don’t, but I know the one you’re talking about haha. It’s pretty much identical to that one.

I don't think I can ever ditch the B5 bug, I've still got buddies over at the b5 section of Audizime and its active as ever.

I’ve already had 2 B5 and sold both in past two years. Now in an A3 3.2 and loving VR6 with Unitronic stage1+ tune and some suspension changes. My next tweak is Boxster brakes. Daughter moved into a B8 . Not sure what I’d look at next if I buy anything else with four rings.
